Film Review

 

An animated movie where monster lives in a city who depends on children's scream to generate electricity. One day, while the top scarer of the company Sully (James. P Sullivan) was on the way to their working place to help his best friend also assistant Mike ( Mike Wazowski ) to hand in his paperworks, his whole world change because of Randal ( Randal Boggs) happens to want to change the record and overcome Sully as top scarer. An innocent child given the name Boo had entered Montropolis and Sully and Mike had to return her to her door before anyone else finds out as they monsters are very scared of human due to they are scared the childrens can contaminate them. 

James P. Sullivan also known as Sully, is the top scarer of Monster Incorporated company run by Henry J. Waternoose. Sully's life changes a lot after meeting Boo the human child which got into monstropolis. Together they had gone through much laughter and also fun, in result Sully had to save Boo from the evil Randal and Mr. Waternoose which wants to terminate her by killing her. After safely rescued Boo and returned her to her home, Sully then discovered that they could also use the children's laughter to replace scream and then in the end runs the Monster Incorporated company. 

Mike Wazowski also known as Mike, is the assistant and best friend of Sully. Very talkative and has a girlfriend which also works in Monster Incorporated and due to his careless personality, Sully had to help him complete his paperwork and there is where their wonderful journey of saving a human child begins. Mike had help Sully in many ways and at last they had safely returned Boo to her home.

Attack on Titans

Attack on Titans is a series of anime with the story of humanity living in the inside of big giant stone walls while outside of the walls are all surrounded by Titans whom devours human without any reason. Eren Jeager, Mikasa Ackerman and Armin Arlert are three normal young kids who lives in the Wall Maria, the outermost of the three walls Maria (normal, poor citizens), wall Rose ( Rich citizens) and also wall Shina ( Royalties). The lives of these three young kids change completely after their wall was being intrude by the Titans from the outside and also results of Eren's mother's death, they had joined the Survey Corps ( an elite group of soldiers to fight Titans outside the walls )  vowing for revenge and also to reclaim their humanity rights back from the Titans. 

Eren Jeager, the main character which is always curious of what's going on outside of the wall (Wall Maria) the wall that he has grew up inside has two best friends Mikasa Ackerman, also his adopted sister and Armin Arlert. After seeing his own mother being eaten up by a Titan with his own eyes, vows to take revenge and joined the Survey Corps. From there, he will have lots of difficult obstacles waiting for him and also day by day he will meet lots of good friends whom will help him accomplish his mission and while accomplishing, he would also lose them in the battle. Eren Jeager has a special ability that is he too can turn into a Titan by biting his own flesh, his father had injected some chemical to him when he was young and before his father disappear. His father is a well-known doctor in his village whioh holds the secret to helping humanity claims back their wall from the Titans.  

Mikasa Ackerman, adopted by the Jeager familt since her parents died. She's the last Asian left in humanity. Also, to thank the Jeager family for taking care of her, she had vowed to repay them by looking after Eren whom is a stubborn head and does things without thinking young kid. Mikasa does everything well, no matter in house chores, or in battle field. Her bestfriends are Eren Jeager also her consider half brother and Armin Arlert. They three had vowed to take down every Titan living to claim back humanity.

For my final task animation there are a few steps and procedure for making it complete. 

Step 1: ( Task 5)

I am required to list down 30 actions and then from the 30 cut it down to 15 and in the 15 choose 8 from it and again cut down to 4 actions. From the 4 actions I have to finalise 2 actions where I would add them into my final animation. The action that I have chosen is exercising and rope jumping. 

Step 2 : ( Test Video )

After choosing the actions, I have asked the help of two of my classmates ( Gurmesh and Farhan) to help me make a test video for the final animation.

After testing the videos, I had started my sketching with the real video and character design that I had selected ( Task 3 ) to complete my final animation task.

Book review.

    In the beginning of the book, It tells us about the history of animation which happens to be created long long ago. This book also tells me about who, why and how animation started off and the names of the first few animators whom makes it big and well known like Walt Disney. Animation is hard to make and many animators made it out through solving and considering tough problems and also its very time consuming. Animation has now taken over the paintings era as now people has the desire for more as the dull looking paintings is now replaced by animated lively moving and also talking drawings, characters, scenes. This is also somehow a fascination to artist as they can now make a drawing/painting move and talk to present their messages and meanings to their audience.

On the 9th October me and my fellow classmates went on a trip to The Royal Museum and Little India, Brickfields to get to know more about the cultures in our country. While on the trip, we were too given tasks to complete during the trip and I'm in a team with my friends Jason and Mesh. During the trip, another two of my friends Farhan and Chuu also strolls and hangout along with us. Our theme for the task is " Togetherness", for the task we are required to take pictures related to the theme and put it into Microsoft PowerPoint for presentation when we are back.

The difference between friends and Best friends is they would never leave us and being together with us at all times. No matter what and where.

Family is the most important and strong when it comes to togetherness as family are the ones who wouldn't leave no matter how, what, where and why. Also, when you had problem you cant solve or face alone, family are always the ones standing by your side and give full support.

 We're required to do a brainstorming session using a picture give by the lecturer and then come out wit out own words related to the picture.

This is the result of brainstorming between me and me 2 other group members. We are given a blank piece of paper at the beginning of the class and is required to use our imagination and draw images/lines or anything based on our imaginations onto it. The picture drawing above is the final outcome of our brainstorming session.

Study Skills : Self Appraisal

Self Appraisal.

For this semester I have 3 subjects given and it is Graphic Design 1, Animation 1 and also Study Skills. Animation is my Major subject. Through Graphic Design, I have got to know more and understand more about the module as our task at the beginning requires us to write about what is graphic design and the types of graphic design. Then later on, I have gain another knowledge and that is to create an infograph and also using installation art to send messages to my audience. While in Animation class I have learned more by learning about the 12 principles of animation instead of just the normal basic principles and elements of designs. Also, I have learned about the basics in animation such as rotoscoping, stop motion and many more. During my Study Skills class I have been guided on how to write a more proper proposal and also the points of doing a research as well as ideas brainstorming in a fun and easy way.

In this semester, the most significant achievement that I have done is that I’ve done my animation task earlier than expected. Under my lecturer’s guidance and lectures, I’ve been able to complete 5 tasks in 6 weeks’ time rather than the scheduled 10 weeks. The feeling of achieving such big achievement is really indescribably satisfied. This achievement is good as it motivates me to complete my other tasks quickly as well. The passion of doing things must be continued and not distracted by anyone or anything. One must decide and be determined in doing and completing something for this achievement to be completed or else, the outcome would not be very satisfying and might turn out worst.

There are some challenges which I’m facing throughout this semester too as I have been assigned in a group for our installation project. In the group we had members from different country and background and so, the different language that we speak has become our main problems as we can’t really communicate and understand each other well. Other than the language we speak, the ideas from different individuals had also become our problem as different people have different point of view and ideas. Another challenge that I had during this semester is my health condition had not been very good. I have been sick for almost a week and couldn’t attend classes and meet up with my group members and lecturer for progress. But we had solve our problems by trying to understand each other’s thinking and then works out everything by brainstorming together for the best solution.

Teamwork is greatly needed in a group as no teamwork equals to no work at all. My group members had been cooperating very well together although we may have some challenges and difficulties, but we had managed to work together and overcome the problems and with these experience I’m well assured that I will continue these attitude of working together to remind and make me a better group member in the coming semester.
